Adelchi Camillo Rold, 93, of Clifton, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Al, as he was known to his family and friends, was born in Santa Giustina, Belluno Italy on October 17, 1931 to the late Guerino Rold and Aquelina (Mares) Rold, and spent his childhood there. He came to the United States in 1952, served with honor in the United States Army from 1956 – 1958, and married Maria (Meneghin) Rold, also of Santa Giustina, on July 23, 1960. They settled in Clifton and raised their sons there. Al worked his entire life as a master mold maker, most of it for Star-Glo Industries, and continued consulting for them well into his 80’s. He loved gardening, making pasta and grappa, listening to accordion music, he enjoyed visiting wineries, traveling, and he and his wife went dancing every weekend until recently. He was quick to offer help, always had a good story to tell, and had favorite nicknames for those closest to him. He was “Nonno” to five grandchildren of whom he was so proud, and he was happy attending their sporting events, graduations, holidays, more recently weddings, or just sharing a meal. He will be greatly missed by his family, and by many close friends.
In addition to his parents, Al was predeceased by his brother, Severino Rold in 1999, and his sister and brother-in-law, Anna (Rold) Dal Pan and Luigi Dal Pan. He is survived by his wife, Maria; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Gail (Thistle) Rold of Easton, PA, and Robert and Sonya (Stoltenborg) Rold of Clifton, NJ; his sister-in-law Lydia (Donadel) Rold, and his loving grandchildren- Kevin and Megan (McLellan) Rold of Livonia, MI; Natalie (Rold) and Craig Cook of Coplay, PA; Steven and Hannah (Farley) Rold of Rogers, AR; Skylar Rold of Clifton, NJ, and Amaya Rold of Clifton, NJ. He is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews, both in NJ and FL, and in Italy.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at Marrocco Memorial Chapel, 470 Colfax Avenue, Clifton, NJ 07013.
