Carmela J. Currier

Currier, Carmela J. (Gilfone), 88 of Maywood formerly of Passaic, passed away on March 2, 2022. Beloved wife of the late John L. Currier. Loving mother of the late Joseph R. Currier. She was predeceased by her siblings Philomena Chierico, James Gilfone, Antoinette Bolles, Michael Gilfone, Anna Del Vecchio, Mary Pancaro, Angelina DeRose and Lucy Cerniglia. She is survived by four generations of nieces and nephews.

Carmela was born in Lyndhurst and lived in Passaic for many years before moving to Maywood a few years ago. She was a Clerk at the Passaic County Courthouse Criminal Division for several years. She was a parishioner of St. Nicholas RC Church in Passaic, where she was a member of the Choir. She was very involved in the Passaic County Democratic Club and the Learning Disabled Young Adult Group. After her son died, she formed a charitable foundation in his memory and has supported many autistic programs.

Funeral from the Marrocco Memorial Chapel – 470 Colfax Avenue, Clifton on Monday at 9:15 am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Nicholas RC Church at 10 am. Interment to follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Lodi. Visiting on Sunday from 2pm to 6 pm.
