David Ovejero

We mourn the passing of David Ovejero 78 of Passaic, NJ at home on August 17, 2026. Dave was born on February 21, 1948 in New York, but lived in Passaic since a young age.

 A dedicated educator, he taught mathematics at Passaic High School for 35 years. Dave was dedicated to the development and fostering of youth serving as the Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop ONE of Passaic for 50 years, one of the greatest joys of his life. He was a former member of the Diocese of Paterson Catholic Committee on Scouting and the St. Philip's Knights of Columbus. 

He loved the weekend and summer camp outings and training scouts in the primary principles of survival, community service & love of GOD. He also enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: annual trips to Myrtle Beach with Brother John, a game of chess, a good meal (especially the second & third helpings), and spending time with friends. Those who knew him recognized Dave as a kind and faithful soul. He was quick to share if he had something that might be enjoyed or needed by another.

 Dave is survived by his sister Linda Cuellar and his niece Cynthia Ramos both of Florida. His kindness and good fellowship will be missed by many friends and former Boy Scouts. He was predeceased by his parents.

Visitation will be held at Marrocco Memorial Chapel in Clifton, NJ on Friday, August 28 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Trinity Church in Passaic, NJ on Saturday, August 29 at 9:00 am followed by entombment at Calvary Cemetery, Paterson.
