Gerald S. Waller, age 77, of Fairfield, NJ, passed peacefully after a short illness on August 22, 2025.
Born in Passaic and raised in Clifton, Jerry was the eldest son of the late Steven and Mary (Gaspar) Waller. He attended St. Paul’s School in Clifton, Pope Pius XII in Passaic, and Montclair State College, where he excelled both academically and athletically. It was at Montclair State that he met the love of his life, Susan (Potusky) Waller, with whom he shared 53 wonderful years of marriage.
Jerry dedicated over 30 years to the Clifton School System, where he was beloved by students and colleagues alike. His warmth, humor, and commitment to education left a lasting impact on generations. After retirement, Jerry and Susan enjoyed traveling to Bermuda and Anguilla, where he found peace sitting by the water, cigar in hand, soaking in the sun and the sound of the waves.
He proudly served in the New Jersey National Guard for four years.
Jerry is survived by his devoted wife Susan; his brother Richard Waller and wife Elaine of Basking Ridge; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Pam and Ken Erkfitz; nieces Susan Jo Lamb (Craig), Gayle Burlinson (Ryan), Kristin DeCellio (Christopher), and Alexandra Strom (Daryl); and great-nieces and nephews Emily, Alex, and Sarah Lamb, Sophie and Hana Burlinson, and Matthew and Ryan DeCellio. He was predeceased by his brother Kenneth Waller.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 2–6 PM at Marrocco Memorial Chapel, 470 Colfax Avenue, Clifton. Funeral services will take place Thursday at 11 AM, followed by entombment at Calvary Cemetery.
