Janet Portelli

Janet Catherine Portelli, 85, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on August 12, 2022. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, John V. Portelli, her parents Dr. Elias J. Hatem and Grace Merritt Hatem, and her sister Joan McNerney. She is survived by her three children, Grace Portelli and her husband Steven Coppa, Dr. John Portelli and his wife Dr. Robin Portelli, and Louis Portelli and his wife Tracey. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jacob VanderKamp and his wife Laura, Matthew VanderKamp and his wife Liz, Lucas VanderKamp, Alex and Lindsay Portelli, Dominick and Veronica Portelli and her great-grandchildren Harper, Shepard, Cole, Daphne and Mia VanderKamp.
Janet was born in Paterson and resided in Clifton for most of her life before moving to Bloomingdale. For the past two years she resided in Westport, CT. She attended Georgetown University before transferring to Rosemont College where she graduated cum laude with a degree in biology.
Janet was brilliant, beautiful, elegant and creative. She was loved by so many for her warm, welcoming and selfless nature and she will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.”
