Laura Dávila Zepeda, 81, of Passaic, went home to be with our Lord on September 17, 2020. Laura was never larger than life, but she did love life. As much as she loved life, she loved God even more; her family came second only to God. When she spoke, you’d be filled with wisdom and love. Laura loved to laugh and enjoy each day to it’s fullest. She wasn’t a sit around type of person. She took advantage of every minute. Whether it was calling friends and family, taking walks, or especially praying to God, not a minute was wasted. If you met her, you immediately felt as if you were part of her family. She was never simply Laura to anyone. All who knew her called her “Mamita Laura” affectionately because she was everyone’s grandmother. Her heart was filled with love for everyone and she made sure you felt her love. She was proud of her two daughters and son and how they served others. It was something she taught them, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She may not be with us anymore, but her presence is still felt because of the many lives she touched. Although we would have loved for more years with her, we can rejoice because she is with the Lord, enjoying life even more.
Laura was born in Guatemala and moved to the United States in 1969 settling in Passaic. She was a member of Templo Emanuel Iglesia del Nazareno in North Bergen. Laura is survived by her husband Mario, and her children Mary, Luis, and Sylvia. “Mamita Laura” was a loving grandmother to her 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service honoring Mamita Laura’s life will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 7:30pm at Templo Emanuel in North Bergen.
