Melania Mychalko

Melania Mychalko, lifelong resident of Garfield, New Jersey, entered eternal life on Friday, May 16, 2025. She was 95.

Melania is deeply loved and survived by her devoted children, Irene Sawka of Pine Brook, Peter and his wife Linda Mychalko, and Maria and her husband Zenon Betley. She is also survived by her five cherished grandchildren, Deanna Olivo, Matthew and Michael Betley, and Stefan and Michael Mychalko, and her two darling great grandchildren, Matthew and Cianna Olivo. Melania is predeceased by her beloved husband Stefan (1999).

Melania was born on November 9, 1929, in Smerekowiec, Poland to Jan and Paraska Wrona.

She was a parishioner of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Church where she sang in the church choir for many years. She was also a member of the church’s senior citizens club. She was a devoted pierogi maker for St. Nicholas’s church, the Ukrainian Center and UAYA (CYM). She was a loving and sociable, hard-working person who loved her gardening.

Visiting will be held from 4-9pm on Thursday, May 22, at Marrocco Memorial Chapel, 470 Colfax Ave, Clifton, NJ 07013. Parastas/Wake Service Thursday 7 PM Funeral Service will be celebrated 10am on Friday, May 23, at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 217 President St, Passaic, NJ 07055. Melania will be laid to rest with her husband, Stefan, at St. Michael's Cemetery, 120 Saddle River Rd, South Hackensack, NJ 07606.
