Ruperta Alvarez

Ruperta Alvarez, 91, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, in Woodland Park, New Jersey.

Born on March 16, 1935, in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, Ruperta was one of thirteen children, the beloved daughter of Secundino Gonzalez and Ramona Crespo. She built a life centered on hard work, love, and devotion to her family. As a skilled seamstress, she took immense pride in her craft, creating with care and dedication throughout her life.

Above all, Ruperta was a devoted mother to her children: Maria Alvarez, Yolanda Alvarez, Alma Rossi Alvarez, Orlando Alvarez, and Edwin Alvarez. Stepdaughter Theresa Claudio, she also left behind ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and the love she shared with her family and all who knew her. Her legacy will live on through the lives she touched and the memories she leaves behind.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Marrocco Memorial Chapel – 470 Colfax Avenue, Clifton, NJ. The funeral will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, beginning at 9:15 a.m. at Marrocco Memorial Chapel followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Paterson. Interment will follow at Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery and Mausoleum.

Ruperta will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
